STONE AGE BUILDING
The first Neolithic Period begins ca. 8000 BCE in the Near East, but it begins and ends at different times throughout the Old World and is defined by the presence of sedentary villages and domesticated plants and animals.

STANDING STONES
In his book "Die Steinzeit war ganz anders", Erich van Däniken states that the knowledge of stone building came from spacetravellers. It certainly an interesting point of view. About stone circles all over the world.

NEWGRANGE
There are a few really remarkable neolithic temples built in those days: one of the best preserved is Newgrange in Ireland. For a long time people thought it was a burial site, later people found out that this was a sun temple.

STONEHENGE
One of World's Greatest Mysteries, Stonehenge, is about 5,000 years old and has been an object of questions since long. This page has three topics: a timeline, a possible construction and legends of Stonehenge.

MALTA'S MEGALITHIC MARVELS
Older than Stonehenge and even older than the pyramids they are: the ancient temples for the Magna Mater (Great Mother) on the islands Gozo and Malta. Many questions will remain unanswered as the templebuilders left no written evidence of their existence. All we have left are millennia old buildings, mostly built in pairs.

SKARA BRAE
Skara Brae was found around 1850 after a huge storm had blown away it sand coverage: for about 5 millennia she has been burried under the sand. It was this sand that not only protected her from being found as well as from of erosion and decay. Skara Brae is remarkably well preserved! The village was occupied from 3100 to around 2500 BC.

HUNEBEDDEN
Hunebedden are the Dutch variant of Dolmens, or rather, of Passage Graves. There are many found in Drenthe and Groningen, two of the Netherlands northern provinces. Hunebedden are older than the Great Pyramid and were build by the Funnel Beaker people.
