Mummy reveals death 400 years ago
trefwoorden: Korea - mummy - zwanger - 16e eeuw
Inside the wooden coffin lay a mummified woman from four centuries ago.
A significant archaeological discovery was made Sept. 6, 2002, when researchers from the Korean University Museum were called to examine an unmarked tomb at the traditional burial ground of the Papyeong Yun family in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
The mummy, dug up accidentally during a reburial process of another tomb, was clearly a monumental finding for the local academia. Researchers were shocked at the exceptional condition of the mummy's body, fairly well preserved flesh, internal organs, bone structure and even an unborn child in her womb.
