Cemetery a fascinating puzzle to archaeologist

Twelve years ago, Dan Allen owned a couple of Nashville nightclubs and spent his evenings dealing with the myriad problems that go with them.
Today he spends his days in much quieter places, cemeteries, marveling at the silence and soaking up the stories of those buried so long ago.
''This is so much better,'' he said, walking among the tombstones of Greenwood Cemetery, Columbia's oldest burial ground. ''These people don't talk back to me and don't steal from me.''
