City dig unearthes Roman treasures

A new housing development in the centre of Worcester is to retain a sense of history after archaeologists unearthed Roman treasures during an excavation.
In August a four week dig was carried out in The Butts by the Birmingham Archaeology unit -part of the University of Birmingham - and sponsored by Miller Homes who plan to build apartments on the land.
The excavation at the former NCP car park discovered a cobbled road and a range of artefacts including pottery, bone pins, industrial slag and Roman coins.
