The discovery of what was suspected to be an olive crusher dating back to Roman times on the outskirts of Nadur has led to a more interesting archeological find: a possible Bronze Age settlement.
A large round stone, initially believed to be an olive crusher, is now thought to have been a grain crusher or flour mill.
Lino Bugeja, of Marsascala, who had seen the stone embedded in a rubble wall, last Saturday accompanied George Azzopardi, the acting curator of the Gozo Archaeology Museum, and Nadur councillor Reuben Curmi to indicate the site to them.
