Since May when the archaeological dig started at Aukra outside Molde in southern Norway, the archaeologists have uncovered 100,000 items from the Stone Age, the Bronze Age and the Iron Age.
This was reported by the paper Adresseavisen.
The archaeological dig in Aukra is one of the largest projects in Norway ever.
It is the planned plant to transport gas from the Ormen Lange field that has made this archaeological dig absolutely necessary. The construction of gas pipes will affect 33 protected culture spots. The archaeological work is done by the education institution NTNU, and the oil companies are picking up the NOK 69.5 million tab.
