A rare carving has been found among medieval ruins of a lost bishop's palace.
The find comes just days before the first anniversary of the death of archaeologist Nick Bogdan who led the dig. The 55-year-old, who died of a heart attack last August, spent eight years excavating the remains of a bishop's palace at Fetternear, near Kemnay, Aberdeenshire.
The artefact - which could be up to 800 years old - is a 3inch-long figure of a king carved in bone or ivory.
