New artifacts give clues about Choctaw family
trefwoorden: Oklahoma - Indian - Choctaw
An archaeological dig in southeastern Oklahoma has unearthed artifacts from a Choctaw Indian family.
The family is believed to have moved to what is now McCurtain County from Mississippi during the 1830s. The site is southeast of present-day Idabel.
Searchers found fragments of bowls, plates, platters, personal items, utensils and crockery during the week-long dig.
The team also found the sites of two chimneys, a cellar and pits that were dug for, as yet, unknown reasons.
